Due to steady demand in the market even after the holiday season ended, car sales in the local market rose by almost 4% last month.
Sales at Tata Motors increased by 2% to 46,063 vehicles. Toyota, a major Japanese automaker that works in India through a joint venture with the Kirloksar Group, kept up its strong performance. In November, the company’s sales increased by as much as 45% to 24,446 units.
An estimated 350,000 automobiles, sedans, and utility vehicles were sent from factories to dealerships last month, according to industry estimates. This represents a 4% increase over the 336,000 units sold during the same period of the previous fiscal year. Indian automakers primarily disclose wholesale shipments rather than retail sales to consumers.
Last month’s retail sales of 330,000 units were 13% lower than those of November 2023, when there were higher customer deliveries due to Diwali. This year, October included all of the big holidays, including Diwali, Dhanteras, and Navratri, which increased sales for the month.
Sales at Hyundai Motor India, a Korean competitor, fell by around 2% to 48,246 units.
