Hindustan Zinc Ltd Q1 net profit up 45.92% at Rs1,983cr spurt in EBITDA in Zinc, Lead and Silver

Hindustan Zinc Ltd reported 63.73% increase in total revenues for the Jun-21 quarter on consolidated basis at Rs6,531cr  with output thrust across the board. On a sequential basis, revenues were down -5.99% compared to Rs6,947cr revenues in Mar-21 quarter on COVID 2.0 effect.

On a yoy basis, Zinc sales were up 67% at Rs4,291cr while silver sales were up 72% at 1,106cr. Lead sales also grew 37% yoy. In sequential terms, only sales from Zinc were higher whereas the other metals saw a fall. Prices of Zinc were up 49% yoy while lead was up 27% yoy on the LME. Silver saw prices rise 63% on the LBMA.

Net profit for the Jun-21 quarter were up 45.92% to Rs1,983cr on a yoy basis, but on a sequential basis, the PAT was actually down 20%. EBITDA grew by 123% on yoy basis but the exceptional loss of Rs134cr depressed PAT growth.

Net margins at 30.36% in Jun-21 quarter were lower than 34.07% in Jun-20 and also lower than 35.71% in the sequential Mar-21 quarter. The company projections for the coming quarters continues to be robust.
