About iRobot's journey and market growth opportunities in India

Puresight Systems Pvt Ltd. (iRobot India) was established with a vision of becoming a leading provider of home robotic appliances in India. Established in 2014, Puresight Systems has the exclusive partnership with iRobot to distribute iRobot home robots in India. It is headquartered in Bangalore.  Since its inception we have seen a growth Y-O-Y every year. The growth in sales and awareness has been very encouraging.

How consumer tech and automation sector transform post Covid for iRobot?

Today we talk about automation in consumer technology and smart appliances. Since the pandemic knocked the door of India we have witnessed, lesser dependency on human house helps and acute supplies of same. Under the situation when mostly people were under lockdown or work from home, there was a great need of solutions which will provide them the ease of doing things faster and better. The spike in the sale of robotic vacuum cleaners, dishwashers and other appliances proved that how the adoptability of smart automated appliances has increased, and Indians are ready to adopt. It was an unprecedented demand, this also shows that a large segment of people in India were aware about these technologies and products but haven’t owned it: may be because they were happy with the helps they had or they didn’t wanted to change their behavior of doing things.

Few points on the shift in consumer trends and demand for products from tier 2 and tier 3 cities during this festive season

The newest trend from the product side is to provide the best in features in their products, with the help of IOT and AI, so that consumers can operate their devices with ease from anywhere and anytime. Today everything is getting smart - devices like smart light, robotic vacuum cleaners etc.

But when we see what consumers are looking for than, it is the ease to adopt these devices and solutions without changing their behavior too much. If there is too much of change in consumer behavior required than consumer resist to adopt such products and solutions. So, consumers are ready to adopt new products and solutions given the situation, but they are also looking the ease of operating these, the minimal maintenance assurance from the providers in terms of warranty and post-sales service. We can say right now the utilitarian aspect of the products are something consumers are looking at more, because of which the price aspect has taken a back seat.

How AI is creating a wave in the current situation for the industry?

As far as smart appliances category is concerned, it’s still an evolving category in India. But, under the situation when mostly people were under lockdown or work from home, there was a great need of solutions which will provide them the ease of doing things faster and better.
