Hindustan Copper Ltd reported a sharp earnings growth for Q1FY19 in spite of flat revenue growth. Revenue in the quarter grew 0.1% yoy to Rs422cr. EBITDA stood at Rs109cr, up 125.4% yoy. EBIDTA margin rose 1,438bps to 25.9%. Net profit stood at Rs35.3cr for Q1FY19, an increase of 243.9% yoy.
  • Employee costs rose 12.8% yoy to Rs92.4cr in Q1FY19.
  • Finance costs rose sharply to Rs20cr in Q1FY19 against Rs3.2cr in Q1FY18. This was due to the ongoing expansion in production for the company.
  • Tax rate for Q1FY19 stood at 30.6% against a tax rate of 34.6% in FY18.




Technical View:

Hindustan Copper Ltd ended the day at Rs63.85, up 0.95 points, or 1.51%, from its previous close of Rs62.90 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs63.10 and has touched a high and low of Rs64.45 and Rs63.10, respectively. A total of 15,44,871 (NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The stock is currently trading below its 200 DMA.
