KIOCL Ltd's Q2FY19 standalone net profit rises to Rs50cr

The company’s standalone revenue stood at Rs425cr, down 5.8% yoy but up 8.2% qoq

KIOCL reported a sharp rise in net profit in Q2FY19, due to significant reduction in inventory. Revenue fell by 5.8% yoy to Rs425cr. EBITDA stood at Rs44cr compared to an EBITDA loss of Rs25cr in Q2FY18. Net Profit stood at Rs50cr for Q2FY19, against a profit of Rs2cr in Q2FY19.
  • Revenue for the pellet plant stood at Rs415cr, down 6.6% yoy. However, PBT for the pellet plant stood at Rs40cr against a loss of Rs25cr in Q2FY18.
  • Employee costs rose 16.5% yoy for Q2FY19 to Rs48cr.
  • Tax rate for 1HFY19 stood at 18.5% against 5.4% in FY18.

Technical View:

KIOCL Ltd is currently trading at Rs. 169.80, down by 3.4 points or 1.96% from its previous closing of Rs. 173.20 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs. 175 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 176 and Rs. 167.50 respectively. So far 27,086 (NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The stock is currently trading below its 200 DMA.
