Overall, positive news around the development of a potential Coronavirus vaccine and better-than-expected key economic data from the United States and China kept the momentum upwards in equity markets.
Increasing intraday volatility that was witnessed today explains that the markets are still largely moving on hope, instead of considering realities. European indices such as FTSE 100, DAX and CAC 40 were seen trading lower by 0.72%, 0.57% and 1.03%, respectively.
Sensex gainers consisted of Bharti Airtel that was up by 4.05%, Bajaj Auto increased by 2.52%, TCS gained by 1.88%, Titan Company increased by 1.69%, HCL Technologies increased by 1.61%, RIL gained by 1.53%, Axis Bank rose by 1.17%, etc.
Sensex losers were made up of IndusInd Bank down by 1.50%, Tata Steel fell by 1.49%, HDFC Bank decreased by 1.42%, Bajaj Finance fell by 1.24%, Bajaj Finserv decreased by 0.63%, Maruti Suzuki fell by 0.56%, etc.
Amongst sectoral indices on BSE, the Telecom index was the biggest gainer, which was up by 3.45% while, Metal index was the biggest loser that declined by 0.51%. BSE Small-Cap rose by 0.47% while, BSE Mid-Cap gained by 0.56%.
