Bags third place at the AUTCUP 2013 at Tehran among 100 teams

Students of Bharath University battled hard to clinch the ‘Third Place – in Service Delivery League’ at the AUTCUP 2013 held recently at Tehran – Iran between 29th October and 1st November 2013. The team of 5 students from Bharath University displayed brilliant effort in the Humanoid League, Rescue League and Service Delivery League and bagged the honor. More than 100 teams including international teams participated in the AUTCUP 2013 organized by Amirkabir University of Technology. Bharath University is the only University from India selected to compete in the finals at the event.

The Robotics team from Bharath University that bagged the award comprised of Mr. Dileep, Mr. Yukesh, Mr. Muzamil, Mr. Mohit and Mr. Vijaykumar headed by Mr. Jaishankar Bharatharaj, Founder of Roboin.

Talking on potential international collaborations, Mr. Jaishankar Bharatharaj said, “Robotics Team at Bharath University is continuously working on designing multi terrain vehicle with advanced technologies and has also discussed with the organizers of the competition for collaborations. Dr. Seyed Mostafa Safavi, (Director of AUTSAT Project) has expressed his interest at Bharath University and we have extended the invite to the researchers at Amirkabir University to visit the campus“.
The participants were lauded by the honorable first Secretary of the Indian Embassy, Tehran for participating in the International event and motivated the students to participate in more such events.
Bharath University’s Robotics Team will soon be collaborating with top Universities and research Lab’s in Europe, Australia and New Zealand for its research in Multi Terrain Vehicle and Humanoid robot projects. Bharath University’s Robotic center of Excellence is actively researching on inventing companion robot for elderly and autistic children with multiple human – robot interaction abilities.

Congratulating the achievement of Students, Sundeep Aanand, Chancellor of Bharath University, said, “We are immensely happy and proud of our students who have taken Bharath University and India to a global platform and would like to congratulate them on their performance. I would like to encourage students to undertake research in robotics for its excellent mix of technology and creativity”.

On this occasion, K. P. Thooyamani, Vice Chancellor of Bharath University said, “Designing robots of such capabilities has been in the pipeline for BU students since 2011, when they had won the ‘Best Performance for Innovation Award' at the Spring Innovations held at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. This is another feather in our cap to position Bharath University as a Centre of Excellence in Innovation through Robotics”
