KCMET announces recipients of KC Mahindra scholarships

The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust selects scholarship recipients based on their academic achievements and financial need.

The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust has announced the results of the F-15 K. C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post Graduate Studies Abroad. Four K.C. Mahindra Fellows will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 24 lakhs in totality, while another 49 candidates will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 2 lakh each.

The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust selects scholarship recipients based on their academic achievements and financial need. This year, the trust received 701 applications from students who have obtained admission in the top rated universities in the UK and USA. There were four K.C. Mahindra fellows, of which Gaurav Sardana and Sambhav Jain received Rs. 8 lakh, while Laya Maheshwari and Shreya Arya received Rs. 4 lakh each. All four hail from very diverse backgrounds and have secured admission into prestigious universities such as Michigan, Stanford, London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) & Cambridge.

“This year’s recipients have displayed incredible grit and determination to secure admission into some of the world’s most prestigious universities, reflecting the true spirit of Rise. My congratulations to all of them. I am sure they will do themselves and India proud,” said Keshub Mahindra, Chairman – K. C. Mahindra Education Trust & Chairman Emeritus – Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

The applicants will be pursuing their post graduation in a number of subjects ranging from Computer Science, Engineering, MBA, Law and Economics, in various universities’ Ivy League colleges including Harvard, Stanford and Carnegie Mellon in the USA, as well as the University of Cambridge, LSE and Oxford University in the UK. 

An eminent selection panel comprising Keshub Mahindra, Chairman Emeritus, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.,  Bharat Doshi, Executive Director and Group CFO, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Ulhas Yargop, President, IT Sector, Group CTO, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Dr. Indu Shahani, Principal, H R College, Dr. Nachiket Mor, Chairman, Sughavazhvu Healthcare, M. M. Murugappan , Vice Chairman, Murugappa Group, Ranjan Pant, Global Management Consultant, P. K. Akerkar & Vijay Gokhale spent two full days interviewing  69 students in Mumbai. Given that the shortlisted candidates were high calibre performers, the panel had a difficult time selecting the final awardees.

The K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Abroad was the first scholarship to be set up at the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust in 1956 by the founder of the Trust, K.C. Mahindra. He along with his brother, J.C. Mahindra, also established the Mahindra Group in 1945. Since inception, the Trust has provided 1168 scholarships to Indian students pursuing their post-graduate studies abroad.
