United India Insurance to recruit 50,000 agents

United India would also train the selected candidates who have cleared the IRDA exam

Chennai headquartered United India Insurance Company Ltd has said it plans to recruit 50,000 agents across the country in the next two years apart from the same number of agents on roll. The company would also hire 350 officers in general and specialist categories this year.
The current headcount of the company is at around 17,000 across 1,500 offices in India. United India would also train the selected candidates who have cleared the IRDA (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority) stipulated examination.
United India would focus on Tier-III and Category 4 locations. Gradually, the company will expand to Category five and six locations. The company also plans to launch a new product by the end of this month, covering hospitalisation and medical expenses for workers who come under the Workmen's Compensation Act. This policy would benefit industrial workmen who meet with unfortunate accidents in their jobs.
The company is targeting Rs. 10 billion business in FY12-13 compared to Rs. 81.79 billion in the year ended 31 March 2012.
