The company said in a filing on Thursday that a DG set was also donated along with the oxygen generation plant to the Community Health Center at Dosala, in the GirSomnath district in Gujarat to ensure uninterrupted oxygen supply.
The Oxygen generation plant was inaugurated by Cabinet Minister Jawaharbhai Chavda and will provide relief to people living in coastal regions of Gujarat. During the second wave of the COVID -19 pandemic, every health care institution was overwhelmed by rising cases.
The situation was really grim in the remote villages in India where many lost their lives for want of better medical facilities and availability of oxygen.
R S Jalan, MD GHCL limited said, “GHCL is committed to care for its stakeholders. During this COVID -19 crisis, we want to reach out to all our stakeholders in as many ways as we can. The communities, especially the ones living in remote areas do not have access to various medical facilities essential during the pandemic and many people have lost their livelihood due to the restrictions imposed. We believe the initiatives by the GHCL Foundation, especially in the villages, will be extremely beneficial and help in saving lives and livelihoods during the pandemic”.
The company further said, GHCL Foundation, the CSR arm of the company has been working very closely with the community and local administration across various districts in Gujarat during the pandemic to ensure testing and appropriate healthcare facilities in the remote areas of Gujarat.
It has distributed grocery kits to the elderly living alone in the villages and provided medicines, surgical items, face shields, oximeters to the district health centers in the Gir-Somnath districts of Gujarat. 50 oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, medicines and surgical items were provided to the Civil hospital, Veraval, Public Health Center and Community Health Center located in rural area during the month of May.
