Kathak Guru Vijayshree Chaudhary’s ‘Katha kathak ki’ inaugurates by Asha Parekh

Guru Vijayshree Chaudhary established Nritya Kala Kunj, in 2001 is a summation of her lifetime dedication to Kathak where at the age of 16 she started her formal training under the leading light of kathak Padmavibhushan Pt Birju Maharaj.

Katha Kathak Ki the annual show by Nritya Kala Kunj at Vir Savarkar Auditorium was inaugurated by lighting the lamp in the presence of yesteryear actress and dancer Aasha Parekh and Saurav Shukla. Hosted by Miss India world -2008 Parvathy Omnakuttan and Sandip Soparkar, other celebrities at the event were Vijay Raj, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Neelima Azeema, Seema Pahwa, Ashok Lokhande, Shammiji,  Jesse Randhwa Shammiji and Theatre personality Ram Gopal Bajaj.


Highlight of the show was aesthetically choreographed Hori which was a collaboration between the ballroom dancer Sandip Sopparkar and Kathak Guru Vijayshree Chaudhary.


Budding Kathak dancers getting a foothold over the nuances of the classcial genre presented Thuis and tarana. The swirling movements Of Sufi with the white flowing costumes was a visual delight.

Twenty years later after being in the spotlight as an eclectic dancer, choreographer and trainer including her posting as the cultural ambassador to Indonesia she started her school in Mumbai.


She is inspired by her Gurus word, “ Apne jaisa ek taiyaar karo taaki nritya ki parampara aage badhe aur use poori katvyanistha ke saath karo.”
