Pandit Jasraj wins Aditya Vikram Birla Kalashikhar Award

In memory of its Founder President, the late Shri Aditya Vikram Birla, 14 years ago, the Sangit Kala Kendra instituted the Aditya Vikram Kalashikhar Puraskar.  The award recognises and celebrates the spirit and culture of excellence in the performing arts. 

This year the Sangit Kala Kendra has chosen the Hindustani Classical Vocal genre for the award.  The Aditya Birla Birla Kalashikhar award will be bestowed on Pandit Jasraj, for lifetime achievement in Hindustani Classical Vocal.  It will be presented by His Excellency Shri S. C. Jamir, the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra, on Saturday, the 21st of November at 6:15 p.m.

On this occasion, the Sangit Kala will also confer the Aditya Vikram Birla Kalakiran Puraskar on Shri Jayateerth Mevundi and Shri Omkar Dadarkar as artists with great promise.
