A Solo Kuchipudi Dance Recital by Ms Shallu Jindal, a disciple of Padmabhushan Raja Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Ms Jindal will perform to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s rendition of Meerabai’s bhajan, Saason ki mala.
Ms Shallu Jindal’s performance on May 2, 2013 will be an hour long, scintillating journey into the world of Kuchipudi. The different elements of the classical repertoire would be:
The performance will start with an ode to Lord Ganesh. Dashavataram: Is a traditional Kuchipudi segment where Ms Jindal will portray the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu viz. Fish, Tortoise, Boar, Narasimha, Vaamana, Parashuram, Rama, Balaram, Buddha and the 10th avatar that is yet to come, Kalki. She will also portray the Vishwaroopam of Lord Vishnu. The third segment will see an amalgamation of Kuchipudi with Bhajans. Ms Jindal will perform to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s rendition of Meerabai’s bhajan, Saason ki mala. It will be a coming together of three different regions. While Kuchipudi is from Andhra Pradesh, Meerabai was from Rajasthan and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is from Pakistan.
The performance will conclude with a performance on the Thaali on Tarana, a classical Hindustani composition by the late Pt. Ravi Shankar. Tarana is a Hindustani musical item, a composition of Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar. Raja and Radha Reddy choreographed this item in Kuchipudi classical dance style. The dancers are depicted as sculptures that come to life and dance, and in the end they again freeze into sculptures.
This item displays exquisite virtuosity as the dancer executes intricate footwork patterns by dancing on the rim of a brass plate and coordinates them with complicated rhythmic patterns. At that moment, when the dancer is standing on the rims of the brass plate, the dancer’s SOUL loses its contact with the materialist world and is in harmony with the Eternal Power. This is the union of the Atma with the Parmatma.

We believe the interest rates are likely to have bottomed due to inflationary pressure, large government borrowings and normalizing credit growth. Hence rate sensitive sectors should be avoided in our view.
