CSS Corp, a global technology support company rolled out a digital literacy program in Tamil Nadu as part of the company’s CSR initiative.

The vernacular campaign targeting 9th to 11th graders, intends to help students from local schools achieve computer literacy. The course includes an introduction to computers and usage of smart computer tools like Microsoft Office.

The curriculum of this vernacular medium course focuses on providing hands-on training for students on new computer tools and processes. The 45 day course allows students to be guided by experienced and qualified trainers. At the end of the course, a periodical assessment and evaluation of students as well as teachers will be conducted by technical experts, and course completion certificates are handed out to the students.

The program implemented in the Panchayat Schools of Kancheepuram District is being conducted in association with ZRII CSR Consultancy, an NGO based in Chennai.

Mr. David Raj, SVP and Chief Human Resources Officer, CSS Corp says, “We believe that knowledge and education is complete only when you implement it at the grass roots level in the real world. Imparting education to needy students that will make them employable will make the exercise meaningful. In order to ensure the success of this initiative, we evaluate the trainers and the students at the end of the program. So far, we are training 500 students, and will be rolling this program at a faster pace across the state in the coming months”.
