Jaiprakash Power Ventures recovers from Uttrakhand glacier burst impact, resumes operations of 400 MW Vishnuprayag HEP

The Jaypee Group-backed company faced some impact of the glacier burst which took place in the river basin of Dhauli Ganga in district Chamoli of Uttrakhand last month.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures on Friday announced that the company has resumed operations of 400 MW Vishnuprayag Hydro-electric Plant located at Vishnupuram in district Chamoli of Uttrakhand.

In its regulatory filing, Jaiprakash Power Ventures said, "The Company is pleased to announce that after carrying out extensive cleaning of the Tail Race Tunnel of the Project and other associated systems and thorough checking of all elements of the Project, we have resumed operations at 400 MW Vishnuprayag HEP on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri on 11th March 2021 at 3:00 P.M."

Jaiprakash Power Ventures states that this is in continuation to our communication dated 8th February 2021 intimating about the Force Majeure event leading to the closure of the Power Generation at the Company's 400 MW Vishnuprayag Hydro Electric Project
due to river water gushing into the Tail Race Tunnel of the Project resultant of the unfortunate recent tragedy in Dist Chamoli of Uttarakhand.

The Jaypee Group-backed company faced some impact of the glacier burst which took place in the river basin of Dhauli Ganga in district Chamoli of Uttrakhand last month.

The company has a 400 MW Vishnuprayag Hydro Electric Project with its Barrage over Alaknanda River, and Project's Tail Race Tunnel discharging water in river DhauliGanga.

On Sensex, Jaiprakash Power Ventures closed at Rs2.73 per piece down by 3.5%.
