Assets of ETFs rise 1.3% in April: ICI

During April, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $19.45 billion

The combined assets of US’s exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $1.734 trillion in April, according to ICI. The Institute’s monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds.
Assets of all exchange-traded funds rose in April by $23 billion, or 1.3 percent, to $1.734 trillion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $264.92 billion, or 18.0 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $201.83 billion since April 2013, and global equity ETF assets rose $57.42 billion during this period. At the end of April 2014, assets of bond funds were $263.35 billion and hybrid funds were $1.82 billion.
During April, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $19.45 billion. In April 2013, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $9.28 billion.
