Pegatron Corp., a Taiwanese contract manufacturer for Apple Inc., has begun producing the most recent iPhone 14 model in India.
Pegatron is now the second Apple supplier to manufacture the iPhone 14 in the nation, according to Bloomberg News.
As China adheres to its tough zero covid policy, Foxconn's plant in Zhengzhou, the largest iPhone manufacturing facility in the world, was recently placed under lockdown.
The reports added that although the India expansion was consistent with already established diversification goals, the circumstance brought to light Apple's significant reliance on China.
Only a few weeks after its public debut, Foxconn started producing the iPhone 14 in India. This was significantly closer to the commencement of manufacturing in China, where the great bulk of iPhones is currently built.
While Wistron manufactures iPhones in Bengaluru, Foxconn and Pegatron have their facilities in Tamil Nadu. The iPhone SE, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 (basic) models are now produced by Apple in India. However, every Pro model offered for sale in the nation is an import.
