Currency market shut today on account of annual bank closing

The rupee on Tuesday ended flat at 75.62 per dollar against Monday's closing of 75.61/$.

The India currency market will remain shut today on account of the annual closing of accounts. The rupee on Tuesday ended flat at 75.62 per dollar against Monday's closing of 75.61/$.

The currency also closed on April 2 it is a public holiday for Ram Navami.

Besides, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs3,044.94cr, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares of worth Rs3,576.23cr, as per provisional data available on the NSE showed.

Indian domestic markets began FY21 on a lower note, following Asian peers, amid concerns related to coronavirus slowing economic growth. The Sensex is down 705 points below at 29,000 and the Nifty down 205 points at 8,393.
