As per the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) data, equity mutual funds witnessed an outflow of Rs4,000cr in August. Investors withdrew a net Rs3,999.62cr from equity-oriented funds and equity mutual funds saw a total inflow of Rs14,558.20cr, Amfi data added.

As per the data, the outflow from equity and equity-linked open-ended schemes was at Rs3,999.62cr in August, much higher than Rs2,480.35cr in July.

Speaking on the August 2020 Mutual Fund Monthly data, N S Venkatesh, Chief Executive, AMFI said: “Despite persistent volatility and challenging economic scenario, Retail Investors continue to exhibit mature investment behavior, reflected from record high Retail AUMs, continued Rise in SIP AUMs, SIP Folios, and significantly higher quantum of flows towards multi asset allocation schemes during the month.”

On the debt side too, investors continue to repose trust, as seen from positive flows in money market, ultra-short and low duration funds. Overall Mutual Fund Industry continues to see steady rise, on a month-on-month and year-on-year AUMs on a consolidated basis,” Venkatesh said.
