The Modi government has created a new financial inclusion plan that aims to open 7.5 crore bank accounts in rural and urban areas and extend financial services to all citizens by August 15, 2018, according to a media report.
The plan would use technologies like e-KYC ( know-your customer) in areas where 'Aadhar' enrolments are complete, and setting up of call centres for grievance redressal, the report added.
The new approach seeks to rectify the shortcomings of the previous government's financial inclusion programme, which focused on providing banking facility to villages with population of over 2,000.
