It’s a no brainer that digital transactions bring in better visibility, transparency, scalability and accountability. The new move will only compel a larger number of sellers to accept digital money. With 400 million mobile internet subscribers and significantly dropping data tariff is only an icing on the cake. After the government's announcement, this is the real Diwali for many digital startups.

This is the time when can engage in new user acquisition and increasing their transaction numbers. This is the biggest opportunity startups offering mobile wallets, fleet taxis, food ordering services, mobile recharges services, multi brand retails, home services and last mile delivery services.

With right marketing, merchant reach and customer experience, they will be clear winners by December. So far, their approach been to spray and pray or being philanthropic only towards existing users. They should gear up their marketing budgets for this occasion and spend wisely. The aim for them would be to reach out to the next potential 100 million subscribers.
