India Inc fund raising via primary mkt dips 90% MoM in April

A total of Rs. 10.72 billion was raised through equities during March, while Rs. 2.96 billion was garnered through debt

Fund-raising by India Inc through the primary market route dipped 90% to Rs 1.34 billion in April from Rs. 13.68 billion over the previous month, according to SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) data.

Due to volatility of equities, the funds were raised only through debt market in April.

"During April 2013, Rs 1.34 billion were mobilised in the primary market by way of one issue as compared to Rs. 13.68 billion mobilised through 14 issues in March 2013, showing a decrease of 90.2% over the previous month," Sebi said.

A total of Rs. 10.72 billion was raised through equities during March, while Rs. 2.96 billion was garnered through debt.

S&P BSE Sensex increased 3.5% to 19,504.2 in April from 18,835.8 in March, registering a rise of 668.4 points.

During April, Sensex recorded an intraday high of 19,622.7 on April 30, 2013 and an intraday low of 18,144.2 on April 15, 2013.
