Nifty above 11,300-mark; Hero MotoCorp, BPCL in focus

All sectors were in the green at opening with metal and pharma indices rising 0.5% each and bank, IT, and FMCG indices up around 0.3%.

Domestic opened higher in the last trading day of the week. However, the sentiment was capped as Asian shares fell on Friday after lacklustre Chinese economic data.

At 9:18 AM, the Sensex was trading 128 points higher at 38,438, while the Nifty rose 35 points to 11,335. Broader markets were also positive with the midcap and smallcap indices up around half a percent each.

All sectors were in the green at opening with metal and pharma indices rising 0.5% each and bank, IT, and FMCG indices up around 0.3%. The media index has opened 0.9% higher in today’s session. The midcap index has gained 0.5% and the smallcap index is up 0.6% at the start of trade. 

The market breadth was in favour of the gainers on the NSE with 1,125 stocks in the green and 371 opened with losses.

Shares of Hero MotoCorp slipped after its standalone net profit declined by 95.12% at Rs61.31cr for the quarter ending June 2020 (Q1FY21), compared to Rs1,257.34cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Oil retailer Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) has turned profitable for the June quarter, with net profit at Rs2,076cr on account of operating income. The stock is trading flat.
