Sensex and Nifty are trading a percent lower Monday following losses in global peers amid concerns over a surge in Delta variant of the coronavirus in Asian countries. At around 1.15 PM, BSE Sensex was trading at 52,539.46 down 600.6 points or 1.13% and Nifty50 at 15,760.05 down 163.35 points or 1.03%.
The Nifty Auto was trading at 10,310.50 down 117.95 points or 1.13%, touching a high of 10,379.70 and low of 10,292.90 during intraday trade on Monday.
Ashok Leyland was the biggest sectorial laggard at Rs124.45 per piece, down 2.7%. Tube Investments dropped 2.2% at Rs1,103.55 per piece. TVS Motor company stock declined 1.7% at Rs601.20 per piece. Balkrishna Industries was 1.4% down.
Heavyweight Maruti remained under pressure like last week, It was trading 1.25% down at Rs7,213.10 per piece. Bharat Forge, Exide India, Bajaj Auto and Tata Motors were also over 1% on the downside.
Eicher Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp, MRF and Amara Raja Batteries also struggled. Bosch was at the top of the 15-company Index on the NSE, dropping 0.22% as the sector had all 15 declines.
