Nifty FMCG index outperforms; Hindustan Unilever hits 52-week high

Shares of Hindustan Unilever (HUL) rallied 5% and hit a new high of Rs2,264 on the NSE.

The Nifty FMCG index rose 2% at 31,001 levels in the late morning trade. The index opened at 30,495 and hit a high at 31,084 levels. Hindustan Unilever soared 5%, and among the top gainers on the FMCG index, followed by Godrej Consumer, Nestle, Dabur and Britannia.

Shares of Hindustan Unilever (HUL) rallied 5% and hit a new high of Rs2,264 on the NSE. With today’s gain, HUL has outperformed the market by surging 11% thus far in February.

Shares of Britannia, Jubilant Food, Colgate, Marico, Tata Global and ITC were up in the FMCG index, however, UBL and Godrej Industries are slightly down.

Meanwhile, benchmark indices are trading higher with Nifty holding above 12,200 level ahead of the release of inflation and factory output data. Further, the stock market took positive cues from global markets that remained on firm footing despite concerns over coronavirus.
