The Index has been struggling since last week coinciding with the rapid surge in Covid-19 positive cases in India, raising concerns about the economy. Amid the volatile trade on Friday, Nifty FMCG at around 1.14pm, was trading at 33,836.85 down 206.20 points or 0.61%, touching a low of 33,806.95 during intraday trade on Friday.
Britannia and HUL shed over 1.5% to emerge the biggest laggards while VBL, Dabur and Godrej Consumer were around 1.3% down on Friday.
Jubilant Foodworks, Emami and Nestle were also under selling pressure while Colgate Palmolive and Procter & Gamble Hygiene traded flat.
United Breweries led the subdued gains bu gaining 1.4% while United Spirits was over 1% higher.
Marico, Tata Consumer and ITC were also trading in the green.
