Nifty Media stocks surge nearly 2%; PVR, ZEEL lift performance

Network18 and Dish TV also led the gains while DB Corp and Jagran were under pressure.

The Nifty Media stocks were bullish to drive trade on Monday. The Index stretched winning streak coming into fresh weak by surging 1.5%. PVR, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, Network18, and Dish TV led the gains while DB Corp and Jagran were under pressure.

After hitting new all-time highs in opening trade, the benchmark indices witnessed some profit-taking. At around 12.10 pm, BSE Sensex was trading at 58,309.62 up 179.67 points or 0.31% and Nifty50 at 17,375.95 up 52.35 points or 0.3%.

Nifty Media was trading at 1,669.85 up 30.10 points or 1.84%, hitting a high of 1,672.45 and low of 1,647.50 during intraday trade on Monday.

PVR surged nearly 3.5% at Rs45.95 per piece. The multiplex chain owner on Friday announced the opening of 3 new screen multiplex in Jamnagar at JCR-The Entertainment World, Gujarat.

ZEEL gained over 2.5% at Rs180.85 per piece. Dish TV was also nearly 2.3% higher at Rs13.50 per piece. Network18 was also nearly 1.5% higher at Rs52.60 per piece. TV18 Broadcast and SunTV also were over 1% on the upside. Inox Leisure and TV Today also traded higher.

Jagran shed nearly 1% at Rs58.20 per piece while DB Corp also dragged at Rs90.35 per piece, down 0.88%. Out of the total 10 stocks, Nifty Media had eight advances and two declines.
