Prism Johnson board approves expansion of cement and tile production capacity in MP & West Bengal

Proposed capacity addition for cement is 1.0 million tonnes per annum of grinding capacity.

Prism Johnson has informed that the Board of Directors of the Company on Wednesday has considered, subject to requisite approvals, expansion of cement production capacity at Satna, Madhya Pradesh.

Existing capacity of cement is 5.6 million tonnes per annum and exisiting capacity utilization is 100.2% as average of last 3 years.

Proposed capacity addition for cement is 1.0 million tonnes per annum of grinding capacity.

Investement for the aforesaid expansion is expected to be Rs250cr.

This is in addition to the proposed cement capacity addition of 0.9 million tonnes per annum that was announced on 28th January, 2021, as stated by company.

Further, the Board of Directors of the Company also has considered, subject to requisite approvals, expansion of tile production capacity.

Existing capacity for Tile production in standalone entity and joint venture entities is 60 million square meters and proposed capacity addition for Tile production capacity in joint venture entities – 6.0 million square meters and Tile production capacity at Panhagarh, West Bengal in the standalone entity – 2.5 million square meters.

Investment required - Tile production capacity in joint venture entities – Around Rs70cr and Tile production capacity at Panhagarh, West Bengal in the standalone entity – Around Rs55cr

On Wednesday, Prism Johnson ended at Rs140.10 apiece down by Rs3.8 or 2.64% on Sensex.
