TNPL’s new plant in Tiruchi to go on stream in February

The plant has a 330-metre-long machine from Germany's Voith to make packaging board. It is capable of churning out packaging board at a speed of about 600 metres a minute.

Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Ltd. (TNPL) 300-acre factory at Mondipatti will commence commercial production in February, reports a business daily. Trial production will start next month, it adds.
The Rs. 1,650-crore plant has a production capacity of 2 lakh tonnes a year.
The plant has a 330-metre-long machine from Germany's Voith to make packaging board. It is capable of churning out packaging board at a speed of about 600 metres a minute.
The unit will reach full capacity in the second year of production. It will generate 800-1,000 jobs directly and as many indirect jobs, according to the financial newspaper.
The plant is being commissioned in less than two years of ground breaking, according to TNPL officials. 
This will take TNPL's total output to 6 lakh tonnes a year, including the 4 lakh tonnes of printing & writing paper from its first unit in Karur.
In a full year of operation, the new unit will add about INR 1,000 crore to the company’s topline, which now stands at ~INR 2,300 crore.
