India has imposed a safeguard duty on the import of a chemical used by pharmaceutical and dye industries for 15 months to protect domestic producers

India has imposed a safeguard duty on the import of a chemical used by pharmaceutical and dye industries for 15 months to protect domestic producers. The Finance Ministry imposed the safeguard duty on sodium nitrite (the chemical) following recommendation for the same by the Directorate General of Safeguards (DGS).(BS)

It is expected that within five years of establishment of the project, tiger shrimp aquaculture in India would increase by 0.1 mn tonnes annually with an export value of US$1 bn,” Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said after inaugurating the centre.(BL)
