US equity funds report inflow of $4.53bn in April: ICI

Hybrid funds posted an inflow of $4.98 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $3.88 billion in March

The combined assets of US’s mutual funds decreased by $35.43 billion, or 0.2 percent, to $15.20 trillion in April, according to the Investment Company Institute’s official survey of the mutual fund industry. In the survey, mutual fund companies report actual assets, sales and redemption to ICI.
Long-term funds—equity, hybrid, and bond funds—had a net inflow of $16.93 billion in April, versus an inflow of $26.88 billion in March.
Equity funds posted an inflow of $4.53 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $10.47 billion in March. Among equity funds, world equity funds (U.S. funds that invest primarily overseas) posted an inflow of $5.86 billion in April, versus an inflow of $8.53 billion in March. Funds that invest primarily in the United States had an outflow of $1.33 billion in April, versus an inflow of $1.94 billion in March. The liquidity ratio of equity funds (the percentage of liquid assets over total net assets) was 3.6 percent in April, unchanged from March.
Hybrid funds posted an inflow of $4.98 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $3.88 billion in March.
Bond funds had an inflow of $7.42 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $12.53 billion in March. Taxable bond funds had an inflow of $6.30 billion in April, versus an inflow of $11.08 billion in March. Municipal bond funds had an inflow of $1.12 billion in April, compared with an inflow of $1.45 billion in March.
Money market funds had an outflow of $57.99 billion in April, compared with an outflow of $29.16 billion in March. Funds offered primarily to institutions had an outflow of $39.69 billion. Funds offered primarily to individuals had an outflow of $18.29 billion.
