eBay India launches a new Meta Category dedicated to Charity products
Continuing with its commitment to support Indian Charities, eBay India (www.ebay.in), India's leading eCommerce marketplace, announces the launch of a new dedicated Meta category (http://charity.shop.ebay.in) in June 2010 for increased visibility for NGO products. The new Meta category aims at offering Indian NGOs a platform to raise funds by retailing their products to a national and global audience of savvy, online shoppers. eBay India's Charity Fundraising platform is a great place to support NGOs by buying their products for themselves or as a gift.
Over 40 NGOs are registered with eBay India’s Charity Platform which includes CRY, Save the Children, Sparrow Shelter, CCDT, Junglelore, Aseema, Women’s India Trust among others. The new Charity Home on eBay India will allow easy access for interested shoppers who want to support the NGOs and offer them safe, easy payment options.
Deepa Thomas, Senior Manager-Pop Culture, eBay India, shared, “Indian NGOs now have a new home on India’s largest shopping website. The launch of the new Charity Meta category will help propel NGOs products front & centre of the savvy, online shopper & will help them sell a lot of products at zero costs. Most importantly, each of the NGOs can also raise awareness for their cause in their eBay listings. “
Launched in 2005, eBay India’s Charity Fundraising platform has benefitted many NGOs by helping them create awareness & raise funds. eBay India waives all its fees for registered NGOs & supports them with trading assistant services and promotion. Since the inception of eBay India Charity program, the eBay Community has helped us raise over Rs. 2 Crores for Charity through the sale of NGO products, online donations and participation in high profile charity auctions of products like ‘Yuvraj Singh’s Bat’, ‘Sachin’s Coaching Camp’ or ‘A day with Priyanka Chopra’.
