Following IndiGo and Air India, an Akasa Air flight destined for Bengaluru from Delhi got a bomb threat on Wednesday, one of several such threats received by multiple airlines in the last two days.
The flight, which is carrying 174 passengers and seven crew members, is being watched by the budget airline’s Emergency Response team and is scheduled to be redirected to IGI Airport in Delhi.
“On October 16, 2024, Aksa Air aircraft QP 1335 flew from Delhi to Bengaluru with 174 passengers, 3 infants, and 7 staff members on board and received a security alert. The Akasa Air Emergency Response Teams are monitoring the situation and have directed the pilot to reroute the aeroplane to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi with extreme caution. The Captain is following all necessary emergency protocols for a safe landing in Delhi, and the projected arrival time is 14:00 hrs, according to an Akasa Air representative.
Meanwhile, an IndiGo flight got a bomb threat on Wednesday, becoming the second flight in two days to face a security risk. The Mumbai-Delhi flight was redirected to Ahmedabad, where passengers were disembarked after the aircraft was isolated, according to an Indigo representative.
