Ashok Leyland, a commercial vehicle manufacturer, reported on Thursday that its overall vehicle sales, including exports, fell 7% to 15,939 units in January. According to a statement, the company sold 17,200 units the previous year.
The company’s overall MHCV (Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle) sales fell 8% to 14,899 units last month, compared to 16,198 vehicles a year ago.
Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment sales declined 7% to 5,721 units in the reporting month, compared to 6,150 cars shipped in January 2023, according to Ashok Leyland.
Between January 2023 and January 2024, Ashok Leyland’s domestic sales were 145,062 automobiles, a 3% rise over the previous year.
When exports are included, Ashok Leyland’s total January sales picture improves. Total worldwide volumes grew 32% for M&HCV buses but fell 15% for M&HCV trucks, resulting in an 8% year-over-year fall in total M&HCV units. However, a stronger performance from LCV exports reduced overall worldwide vehicle sales to a relatively moderate 7% fall, totaling 15,939 units.
