By the beginning of 2023, Air India will restart 10 wide-body aircraft

8 Aug 2022 , 07:43 AM

On Sunday, Air India stated that it would re-enter service with 10 of its wide-body aircraft by the beginning of 2023. A wide-body aircraft can fly on lengthy international routes like India-US and India-Canada since it has a larger fuel tank.

“There are currently 43 wide-body aircraft in Air India’s fleet, 33 of which are flying. Compared to the airline’s previous fleet of 28 aircraft, this represents a considerable improvement “quoting the firm’s official statement, PTI reported.

By early 2023, the remaining aircraft will gradually be put back into service.

The carrier added that the wide-body Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft’s reintroduction to service has made it possible for the frequency on the Delhi-Vancouver route to increase in order to accommodate the increased traffic between India and Canada.

In order to restore aircraft that had been grounded for extended periods due to the COVID-19 epidemic and other reasons, it was stated that Boeing had been working closely with Air India since Tata Group’s ownership of the airline.

The increase in frequency on the Delhi-Vancouver route, according to a statement from Air India CMD Wilson on Sunday, is the first step in recovering Air India’s fleet and global network.
