The E27 fuel and ethanol-blended diesel cars are the subject of a pilot investigation by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.
E27 fuel is a mixture of fossil-based fuel and ethanol at a rate of 27%.
According to the ‘Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India by 2025,’ which intends to encourage the adoption of ethanol blending in petrol, the oil marketing firm became the first in India to launch such a study programme.
However, it was introduced gradually in April 2023 in India, and it is anticipated that it will be widely accessible in two years.
The country’s E20 petrol mix was established by the Centre with the hope of, among other things, lowering the cost of the nation’s oil imports, enhancing energy security, lowering carbon emissions, and improving air quality.
It is noteworthy that the government pushed back the deadline for E20 fuel from 2030 to 2025.
Looking ahead, obtaining 27% ethanol blending above E20 gasoline will be India’s next achievement in the ethanol blending programme. India will proudly stand beside Brazil on the global platform in the Ethanol blending programme following the success of the ongoing trials and the development of E27 fuel, according to a release from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
According to the announcement, using E20 gasoline is expected to help cut more than 200 lakh tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2025.
