According to a price announcement from state-owned fuel retailers, gasoline and diesel prices were unchanged on November 9 for the fifth day after the Central government reduced the excise charge on the two fuels to bring down retail rates from record highs.
On November 3, the government reduced the excise duty on gasoline and diesel by Rs5 per liter and Rs10 per liter, respectively, to assist customers who had been hit hard by record-high retail fuel costs. Following this, on November 4, oil companies passed on a record-low drop in excise tax rates, resulting in a nationwide decrease in petrol prices of Rs5.7 to Rs6.35 per liter and an increase in diesel prices of Rs11.16 to Rs12.88.
The price of petrol in Delhi decreased on November 4 and is now Rs 103.97 per liter. On November 5, nothing changed regarding the cost. At Rs 86.67 per litre for the day, the price of diesel remained constant. Similar trends were seen in Mumbai’s fuel pricing. Retail gasoline costs Rs109.98 a liter, the same as before. On May 29, Mumbai became the first metro area in the nation where gasoline was sold at more than Rs100 per liter. Diesel was offered for the same price per liter, at Rs 94.14.
