Prices for petrol and diesel on September 30

30 Sep 2022 , 12:20 PM

On September 30, after a day’s break, gasoline and diesel prices were increased once more throughout urban areas. In Delhi, the cost of gasoline increased by 25 paise to Rs 101.64, while the cost of diesel increased by 20 paise to Rs 89.87.
Similar trends in fuel costs were seen in Mumbai. The cost of gasoline increased to Rs107.71 per liter. On May 29, the financial center became the first city in the nation to sell gasoline for more than Rs100 a liter.
In the capital of Maharashtra, diesel prices increased as well, rising from Rs97.21 to Rs97.52 a liter. In Kolkata, a liter of gasoline costs Rs102.17, while a liter of diesel costs Rs92.97. Chennai now charges Rs99.36 for a liter of gasoline, up from Rs99.15 before, while the capital of Tamil Nadu charges Rs94.45 for a liter of diesel.

Depending on the prevalence of municipal taxes, the cost of gasoline and diesel varies from state to state. The price rise on September 28 was the fourth for diesel and the first for gasoline in more than two months. The hike came as crude oil prices rose for the sixth day in a row, with global benchmark Brent prices approaching $80 per barrel.

Diesel prices have increased by 95 pence per liter in four price rises since September 24. Three-fourths of the Rs1.25 per liter price reduction that took place between July 18 and September 5 is now invalidated. Prior to this, the price of fuel was last raised on July 15. The price of gasoline last increased on July 17.
The retail prices of gasoline and diesel in the Delhi market decreased by Rs0.65 and Rs1.25 per liter when the price of oil fell internationally in July and August. Prior to that, from May 4 to July 17, the price of gasoline rose by Rs11.44 per liter. The price of diesel increased by Rs9.14 throughout this time.

Due to the price increase at this time, diesel prices in at least three states and more than half of the nation now exceed Rs100 per liter. India bases local gasoline costs on worldwide oil prices since it imports about 85% of the oil it consumes.
