The Indian rupee experienced a 5-paise decline against the US dollar at the opening on Tuesday. This was attributed to a stronger American currency in the global market and increased treasury yields.
The initial exchange rate was 83.19 rupees per dollar, compared to the previous day’s closing rate of 83.15 rupees per dollar. On the previous day (Monday), the rupee had depreciated by 21 paise to reach 83.15 per dollar.
In the domestic stock market, both the Sensex and Nifty 50 were showing marginal movement during the pre-opening session. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers of Indian shares, amounting to Rs 2,333.03 crore, based on provisional data available on Monday. Conversely, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) net purchased shares totaling Rs 1,579.28 crore on the same day.
