Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has banned six staffing firms involved in a recent job scandal, according to Chairman N Chandrasekaran.
The scandal emerged after two whistleblower complaints alleged misconduct by employees in TCS’s resource allocation group responsible for appointing contractual employees.
The issues were reported in India and the US, and approximately 2-3% of TCS’s deployed resources involve such business associates (BAs).
As per sources, Six employees were found to have engaged in unethical conduct, favoring specific firms, leading to their dismissal and the banning of the implicated companies.
TCS is currently investigating the involvement of three additional employees in the scandal. Although the exact extent of favors received remains undisclosed, the employees’ behavior indicated favoritism towards certain firms.
TCS, one of India’s largest IT services companies employing over six lakh people worldwide, faced allegations of a ‘bribes-for-jobs’ scandal. TCS initially denied seeking bribes but acknowledged unethical behavior within the resource allocation group.
Chandrasekaran announced that TCS would review and strengthen its supplier management process to prevent future incidents. The chairman emphasized the significance of ethical conduct and integrity among employees and assured shareholders of strict action against violations.
