Early trading saw rupee rise 35 paise to 81.58/ $

In early trading, the rupee strengthened 35 paise to 81.58 versus the US dollar as the American currency declined from its high levels

In early trade on Thursday, the rupee strengthened 35 paise to 81.58 versus the US dollar after the greenback declined from its high points. The local unit began trading at 81.60 versus the dollar on the interbank foreign exchange, then reached 81.58, gaining 35 paise from its previous finish.
The rupee also reached 81.75 versus the dollar in early trade. In intraday trade on Wednesday, the rupee fell for the first time below the 82-mark before finishing 40 paise down at 81.93 versus the dollar. The dollar index, which compares the value of the dollar to a basket of six other currencies, increased by 0.61 % to 113.28.  The benchmark for world oil, Brent crude futures, decreased 0.46 % to USD 88.91 a barrel.
The 30-share BSE Sensex was up 361.13 points, or 0.64 %, at 56,959.41 on the domestic equities market, and the larger NSE Nifty was up 133.75 points, or 0.79 %, at 16,992.35. According to exchange statistics, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs2,772.49 crore on Wednesday, making them net sellers in the capital markets.
