Coca-Cola announced a Rs 1,387 crore investment in a new production facility in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district on Thursday.
According to a statement by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, the 88-acre plant in the Lote Parshuram Industrial area in a Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation region would use water from the Vashishthi River.
The greenfield project in Khed taluka, which is slated to be operational by 2025, has been described as a ‘major leap’ in the company’s production capacity.
Under the unit, 350 persons will be employed directly and indirectly. According to the statement, the state’s community programs will help 81,000 individuals.
The projects include educational infrastructure, water ATMs, sustainable agriculture, and community engagement centres, according to the statement, which adds that the interventions will assist 10,000 people in the Lote Parshuram region.
On Friday, state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and HCCB Chief Executive Juan Pablo Rodriguez attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the facility.
Currently, the firm operates in 22 states and has 16 plants manufacturing 60 items across the country.
