Reliance Jio increased its mobile client base by 4.2 million in June, building on gains from the previous month. In contrast, according to Trai data for the month, Airtel only added 0.79 million consumers while Vodafone Idea continued to lose customers, shedding 1.8 million. With these additions, Jio's total number of wireless subscribers reached 413 million.
There were 362.9 million and 256.6 million consumers for Airtel and Vodafone Idea, respectively. Jio saw growth for the second month in a row after adding 3.1 million new wireless customers in May. The corporation announced increases in the first quarter of FY 23 after losing subscribers for nine months through the end of March. Jio had previously blamed the decline in consumers on SIM consolidation and the purging of low-fee users.
