Ramesh Abhishek has been added to the board of directors of Indus Towers as a non-executive independent director. Abhishek was the secretary in the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) until 2019.
Abhishek will assume the role on January 3, 2023, subject to shareholder approval, for a five-year term ending on January 2, 2028, according to the tower company’s BSE filings.
Abhishek led several key government initiatives as secretary, including Make in India, Startup India, and Ease of Doing Business.
He also played a critical role in driving the Invest India initiative to strengthen investment promotion and oversaw the 2016 National IPR Policy implementation.
Abhishek also served on the boards of Aditya Birla SunLife AMC, Cyient, USIBC, Nuvama WM, Paytm Payments Bank, and as Senior Advisor, TIE Global.
At around 9.45 AM, Indus Towers was trading 0.90% lower at Rs188 against the previous close of Rs189.70 on NSE. The counter hit an intraday high and low of Rs190.50 and Rs187.70 respectively.
