Markets Surge as Nifty Crosses 20,000 Mark, Sensex Up Over 700 Points on November 29

On November 29, benchmark indices closed on a robust note, with the Nifty surpassing the 20,000 mark for the first time since September 20, 2023.

At the closing bell, the Sensex gained 727.71 points or 1.10%, reaching 66,901.91, while the Nifty rose by 206.90 points or 1.04% to 20,096.60. Among the Nifty components, 1828 shares advanced, 1706 shares declined, and 123 shares remained unchanged.

The top gainers on the Nifty included Hero MotoCorp, M&M, Axis Bank, Wipro, and Tata Motors. On the flip side, ONGC, Nestle India, Eicher Motors, Adani Enterprises, and Divis Lab were among the losers.

Except for realty, all other sectoral indices ended in positive territory, with auto, bank, Information Technology, and oil & gas sectors each rising by 1%.

The BSE Midcap index was up 0.8%, and the smallcap index gained 0.4%. The strong performance across sectors and indices reflects positive market sentiment and investor confidence.
