Merck opens research -; development center in Bengaluru

The opening of Merck’s healthcare research and development centre in Bengaluru was announced on Thursday.

The Merck India R&D Excellence Centre helps treat patients with unmet medical needs all around the world by contributing to the company’s healthcare R&D.

About 300 employees are employed in the German pharmaceutical company’s centre, which will keep growing over the next two years.

“Through the Centre, we will increase our involvement in healthcare research and development in India while assisting the Merck Group’s international drug discovery activities. According to Suneela Thatte, vice president and director of the R&D Excellence Centre, the Bangalore centre’s goals are to create a culture of working as a single team, deliver important tasks related to medication development, and build a strong talent base. The statement was reported by ET.

Thatte continued, “The R&D Excellence Centre aspires to unite the finest of local talent and international best practices to enable the vision of increased patient outcomes.
