NHPC Ltd, a government-owned hydroelectric power producer, reported a 41.2% decline in Q2 net profit, totaling ₹909 Crore compared to ₹1,546 Crore in the same period last year.

Revenue for the quarter rose by 4.1% year-on-year to ₹3,052 Crore, up from ₹2,931.3 Crore in Q2 FY24. Operational revenue for Q1 was ₹2,694 Crore, showing an upward trend when compared to the previous quarter.

Q2 EBITDA showed a slight increase of 1.7% YoY, reaching ₹1,799 Crore, up from ₹1,768.4 Crore in the prior year. EBITDA margins contracted to 58.9%, down from 60.3% in the same quarter last year, indicating some impact on operational efficiency.

Total expenses increased to ₹1,831 Crore, compared to ₹1,540 Crore a year ago, mainly due to higher operational and input costs. Other income nearly doubled, reaching ₹350 Crore from ₹182 Crore in the previous year, providing some relief amid profit pressure.
