Tejas Networks has collaborated with Intel to integrate Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology into Intel-powered laptops that can deliver educational content seamlessly without internet or Wi-Fi connections.
This technology enables universal access to education by leveraging AI-driven functionalities and terrestrial broadcast networks to reach students from all over India, particularly in distant and unserved locations.
Today shares of Tejas Networks closed at ₹702.85 which is a 3.64% dip than the previous close. Tejas Networks stock has witnessed a total of 38% dip in the last one year, and 11% dip in the last one month.
The D2M feature is founded on a proof-of-concept that was created at IIT Kanpur, which employs TV broadcast airwaves to deliver live TV, videos, audio, text messages, and educational content directly to computing devices.
The new D2M-enabled laptops are built with Intel processors and an embedded antenna system, combined with Tejas-Saankhya SL-3000 SDR chipset, making it a comprehensive, indigenous solution. Tejas Networks has also created a complete suite of D2M network infrastructure solutions, both hardware and software, to enable national-level deployment.
The end-to-end technology has already been pilot-tested in live networks in partnership with Prasar Bharati, IIT Kanpur, and Tejas Networks, demonstrating its scalability and robustness.
As per Parag Naik, Executive VP at Tejas Networks, D2M provides an affordable, inclusive, and high-quality solution for digital learning in India.
Gokul Subramaniam, President of Intel India, stressed that the integration of D2M allows for new modes of delivering content through personal computing and edge devices, opening up the horizon of connected education.
Shashi Shekhar Vempati, Chairperson of the UGC Committee on Educational Media Reforms, pointed out that the initiative is in line with the objectives of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, i.e., inclusive and equitable education for everyone.
