Only one stock was put on ban list on Monday, April 29, 2024, in the futures and options (F&O) segment of the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
When a stock surpasses 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL), it gets banned from trading in the F&O segment, although it remains tradable in the cash market. Vodafone Idea was the sole stock placed on the F&O ban list for April 29.
The NSE regularly updates this ban list, and traders are advised to only decrease their positions in these stocks. Opening new positions can lead to penalties. During the F&O ban period, traders cannot initiate fresh positions in any contracts related to the banned stock.
On April 26, the stock market saw a decline in benchmark indices like Sensex and Nifty due to selling pressure, particularly in banking, financial, and consumer durable sectors. This followed a five-day rally and mixed global market trends.
The Nifty fell by 150.40 points or 0.67% to 22,419.95. Weekly performance showed the BSE benchmark up by 0.87% and the NSE Nifty up by 1.23%. In the broader market, midcap stocks rose by 0.83%, and smallcap stocks by 0.27%.
Sector-wise, banking, financial services, technology, auto, and telecommunication indices saw declines, while energy, healthcare, services, and power indices witnessed gains.
