A joint venture between Tata Technologies and the BMW Group will handle the premium automobile maker’s software and technical requirements.
News reports say that this week will probably see the announcement of the collaboration agreement between the Munich-based automaker and the engineering firm of the Tata Group. More than 2,000 employment are anticipated to be created locally by the recently established tech alliance, which will support global projects for BMW. According to further reports, the corporation most likely maintains engineering and R&D centres in Bengaluru, Pune, and Chennai.
The range of work will include, but not be limited to, product development, machine learning, artificial intelligence, simulation, and testing. According to insiders, the venture’s core focus will be on software and the creation of connectivity services.
To demonstrate its dedication to emerging technologies, the corporation plans to spend more than 30 billion euros on research and development until 2025. It is crucial to be able to combine many technologies to create a whole system.
The businesses who can create and integrate software and hardware in equal measure will be the ones influencing automotive technology in the future. Oliver Zipse, the Chairman of the Board of Management at BMW AG, had said earlier that “in this regard, we are quite clearly in the fast lane.”
India is viewed as a cost-effective and large-scale destination, therefore it is not surprise that major global players like Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Renault-Nissan operate important R&D centres there that serve the needs of the world market.
Manu Saale, the head of Mercedes Benz India Research & Development Centre, told Autocar Professional in 2023 that India is a major hub for “digital-mechanical engineers,” or engineers who are focused on the digital world and are inventing products on computers.
